Metro is dedicated to supporting Filmmakers with Promotion, Screenings, and Distribution.

The Metro Film & TV Awards is not a traditional Festival or Competition. The awards are a Monthly and Annual event based in Metro Detroit. Every month, our jury will award the best independent filmmakers through private screenings and/or a point system based upon viewership on Vimeo, Youtube, and other platforms such as TV-Apps and screenings at local venues.

Quality and creativity are celebrated in several levels of awards including the Heart of Gold Awards and The Best of Show, Excellence in Film, Special Mention, Films of Merit, Special Recognition, and Audience Choice.

All Award Levels are curated by Metro's Festival Director (Dean Lachiusa) and judged by seasoned professionals, with outside judges appointed for additional review as needed. Metro's Director assures consistency among judges and the overall direction of the Festival.

Much like the Chicago International Fest, entries do not compete against each other. Instead, entries are judged against a high standard of merit and are scored accordingly. Using a point system, Metro judges score entries on a performance scale. When appropriate, this may be balanced with Points accumulated if a film is screened on platforms such as Vimeo.

Best of Show honors are granted to the top scoring entries. Excellence in Film and Excellence in Film Special Mention awards are granted to entries with truly exceptional filmmaking. Notable artistic and technical productions are recognized at the Films of Merit award level and Special Recognition recognizes achievement in a specific category of entry. Audience Choice and Heart of Gold are honors chosen on a monthly and seasonal basis for all categories.

There are no fixed number of awards. Rather, awards are granted at any level and fluctuate based on the total number of entries received for each competition deadline during a Season. The Best of Show winner (scheduled for 2019) will receive the prestigious Metro Statuette, and monthly winners may contact our team to order their Statuette or Plaque and pay the production and shipping costs.

The Metro Film & TV Awards Statuettes, Plaques and more.

The Metro Statuette's and Plaque's are exceptional in the Film and Television industry. These works of art honor works of art. Covered with your choice of Gold, Silver, or Brass the Statuette is manufactured by a company that makes gorgeous, custom awards (in limited editions.)

A step up from standard printed Certificates, Metro offers Official Selection and Nominee Plaques covered with Gold Leaf to all participants (in limited editions.)

Gold Laurel stickers are available (by special order) for commemoration and placement on DVD's and Ancillary products. New products that will help filmmakers promote their success are being developed all the time.
